I am thinking of getting the HTC Vive.  However, my computer space is VERY small for Vive (and next to a stair case, meaning I could easily trip), but the room above my computer space is perfect for VR.  Is their anyway to use the vive in a different room then the room of my computer.

I wouldn't, would it be possible to move your computer into that room?

Absolutely. I use the vive in my kitchen which is luckily right next to my bedroom with the computer. I bought a 12' extension for HDMI and USB and it works great. One thing I would recommend for a more permanent setup is to route the cables through a junction box in the wall since you're already likely planning on running the cables through the walls.
