Uses for extra harddrive?

so my cousin bought me a 250gig wd green hardrive forwhatever reason. i already i have a 500gig ssd and 1tb harddrive for my pc. it is new, and in the anti static bag. (so its working, haha)

So, any ideas for what to do with it? anything i could use it for? (example for something special on my pc?) thanks!

Sell it.

iirc you need same storage size drive to put them in raid not sure

 

a backup drive for important stuff?

Either put it in your computer if you need more storage, or sell it if you need the money. (250 gb hdd is not really worth much nowadays, maybe $30-50)

 

If you need neither of these things, then the options are limitless. I like taking out the magnets and platters. They also make solid drink coasters.

When in doubt, re-format.

As the guys suggested you could use this drive for backups of your most important data. you could get a dock station or a simple external enclosure and use the drive occasionally to back your data up and then store it somewhere safe. 

WD Green drive are great for this as they are low-power secondary storage drive designed for such type of usage.
