Hey forums,

So, after doing some upgrades to my tower, including a Highpoint Rocket 640L, my system began experiencing troubles and being unable to POST. I unplugged the card, the system POSTed, and I adjusted some setting in my motherboard which seemed to work. The Rocket bios kicked up, then the splash screen for my motherboard, and I was able to get into the system. However, after rebooting, the system refused to POST again! I find that unplugging and plugging the card back into the slot resolves this, but this isn't really a solution.

I'm using a Gigabyte Sniper M.3 z77 motherboard with this build. If anyone has advice for this, that would be great! If not, could someone please point me in the right direction to a good, 4-SATA port, PCI-E, JBOD card? (I don't need RAID, nor am I willing to use it).

Thanks for any input!

It's probably just the card, I too have bad experience with Highpoint products. Try returning the card and buy something from a better brand.

I figured as much, I was just hoping I was missing some setting to make it all work though. The only issue is the better brands are also much more expensive than the Highpoint card. It's not that much more expensive for me to just buy a different motherboard that has more SATA ports on it. And since I want to run these disks independently, I'm not concerned with compatibility with a RAID array in the future. I'll probably end up doing that instead, unless you or someone else has recommendations for a reliable card that will do what I want for less than $130.
