so my friend has a dimension and its bsoding I 1st told him to try and replace the ram then the gpu and make sure nothing is overheating so get a monitor of the temps 

 

 

any other ideas?

You don't start replacing parts because you get a BSoD. First, have the computer cleaned out of dust and make sure the fans are working to eliminate thermal problems. Then, find the stop code being displayed and post it here. That computer is a pentium 4 with 512 MB of RAM shipped. It should be upgraded to Windows XP if possible.

thing is clean as a whistle and I replaced the thermal paste, thats why I suspect other things like gpu or ram

Do a memtest if you havnt. Also that thing needs to be replaced and im surprised it has lasted this long.

Test each of the RAM sticks by taking the other out, and seeing if you still get the BSoD.

You really dont need to do that unless you need to know which of the sticks is bad. In most cases you just need to know if the set itls bad or not.
