Hi , i want to choose a cpu for gaming and editing/making videos. my monitors are at 1440p or 4k still deciding but what cpu would be the best , i was thinking either the 6850k or 6900k because i do alot of animation and editing.  Also gaming .

Second quetion is what gpu do you think will be best , prefably the 1080 or titan x pascal or should i wait few months for the 1080 ti

Do some research on rendering benchmarks for the 6850k and 6900k and see how they compare to the 6700k, I do a crap load of editing and my 6700k clocked at 4.8ghz seems to suit me just fine however I did upgrade from 16gb of ram to 48gb which is now a bit overkill but  worth it for big projects

in terms of gpu then if you've got the money by all means go for the titan x pascal, it will help with your video rendering outputs more than the 1080 would even though it may only be marginal, just for reference I have a 6700k, 1080 superclocked and 48gb of ram and it takes around 7-8 minutes to render a 10 minute clip at 1080p 30fps with a bitrate of 18-20mbps

Like above the 6700k + 1080 would be a great choice. i7-6850k would be the better choice even though it has less cores. There is ~6% difference between the 6900k & 6850k, while extra cores / threads is great for video editing / rendering the 6850k is a smarter choice because of the ~$600 price difference.

In my opinion, the 6900k wouldn't be that much faster and is no where near the $600 increase.
