Problem with newly installed soundcard

Greetings. I just installed my first sound card and I cannot hear any sound.

My sound card is http://www.e-shop.gr/sound-card-creative-sound-blaster-z-retail-p-PER.540210

The speakers are http://www.e-shop.gr/creative-gigaworks-t20-series-ii-p-PER.500750

I installed the card on my second PCIe X1 slot (the really small one) and I downloaded and installed all the corresponding software.

Should I have installed it on a different PCIe slot? (my motherboard is ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming and I only have 1 GPU installed on the first PCIe X16 slot).

Am I supposed to de-activate the onboard audio before my sound card works?

I have no idea since I am a beginner. Thank you for any help. Have a great day.

Seek and you shall find.

yes you should disable the on board audio

I remember I replied to a similar case involving ASUS mobo and a Creative sound card - in that case, ASUS did not support the card and it did not functioned properly

you should also check Device Manager to see if the card is actually installed
