Recently I went on action and brought my computer with me.  I played black ops 3, and then I hade to reinstall windows because I couldn't diagnose that a program cause my windows not to boot and just got to the repair windows screen.   So after I reinstalled windows I copied my games back to my hard dive from my backup hardrive and everything worked fine.  The place I was at had an open nat type.  So I can back to my house and tried to play black ops 3 and as soon as I join a lobby or match, my router cuts the internet connection but is still putting out a wifi signal.  My house has a moderate nat type.  No one can help me with this and will a game reinstall help me .

What is the make and model of your router? Please don't tell me your ISP provided it. (If they did, you need to replace it.)

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Why would my router disconnect and only disconnect only when I play black ops 3.  The router disconnects my computer as soon as I join a match.  Black ops 3 stopped working after reinstalled windows at a different location and played the game.  The nat types at the two places are different.  Honestly when I reset the router I can play in a a match for about 5 mins then it crashes and will do that until I reset it again.

Sadly it is from them and it has worked fine.  Just after I reinstalled windows it stopped working and yes I hate this router but I didn't pay for it so idc.

I had this problem with trying to connect to others that had different nat types. I have no idea how to fix unfortunately. :/

I don't know if black ops 3 can't figure out the nat types are different or what but it's only in black ops 3 so..

So first, if you "don't care", then we can't help you out.

Second, I understand it used to work fine - this tells us a couple things.

Either the hardware has started to fail, or more likely your ISP pushed a new firmware update to the modem/router that is causing these hiccups under certain situations/loads. I would get in touch with your ISP and see if they can replace the modem/router with a model that isn't poop, or talk to them about bridging in your own router.

Well I'm going to get a new on but I don't think I'm going to fix it with that.  And it used to work until I reinstalled windows and copied over the game files.  I have verified the game on steam.  But it hasn't done anything.  The router can't get firmware updates.  Verizon wireless support was supposed to call me but.... it never happened.  Verizon wireless being the only thing that works where I live.... they honestly make me want to die

Even if it appears that way to you, it can and definitely does get some kind of updates pushed to it.

ISP owned/managed equipment always has a backdoor of some sort for remote troubleshooting and support.

I hear you though in that Verizon being the only thing available in your area sucks... Where I am, we have a total 2 ISPs, both of which aren't that great.

All I know is I went to a place with unlimited dsl with an open nat type reinstalled windows, copied the game from a backup and this started when I came back.

An verizon wireless one made by net gear and it's about 2 years old.

do you have any specific model number etc? would help a load in finding the problem. have you tried logging in to the router and reading the log to see if you can find any errors?

It's a netgear mrb 1515 2FF.  It's a Verizon wireless model.  I haven't read the log but I will when I have enough internet to update the game as Verizon wireless is expensive and shitty.

yea it probably is getting DoS'ed because of the game. that thing is pretty crappy to say the least. have you done a speedtest.net? (preferrably 3 times in a row and all results for accuracy)

I Have but the money you have to pay for LITERALY SHIT AMOUNT OF DATA.  It's not worth it to run speed test but I get pretty good speeds as I said it has worked fine until I reinstalled windows.
