Focusrite Audio Interface(My Experience)

I thought it important to share this.

 

I don't use internal audio cards, can't be bothered.  I use studio monitors, I need inputs to record instruments as well.  I used to use my behringer x32 or my presonus 24 channel.  These are great in my studio space.  Recently they both had to go back on the road.  I purchased a simple Focusrite 2i2 interface.  It works great.  It's USB powered, so the volume isn't horrible, but leaves a bit to be desired at times.  It's come with issues creep up over time though.  I'll be watching a video, or playing battlefield 1 and suddenly the audio either drops out completely or everything starts sounding like robot audio.  The solution is to change my audio device and then switch back.  Also, if you unplug the USB cable while in widows, it crashes windows horribly and go to a screen saying, we'll restart the computer for you.

 

It's a decent interface for the money, but there are better ones, such as from Native Instruments(look it up).  Further I'll offer this and most people have some opinion that FIRE wire is dead.  Honestly, fire wire is the way to go for any audio interface, I'd never buy a USB interface again.  When I used my big consoles, I always used fire wire with them.  

 

Also, if you use a USB interface, you'll get coil noise from your computer.  Over fire wire, it's dead silent.

 

To sum all of this up.  The focusrite, it works, but itsn't something I'd buy again.  If you can afford an overkill console and are willing to get a fire wire card or still have it on board with your motherboard, do it.
