Cannot rad files from ext hdd

Hi guys

 

I have a Western Digital My password 500g. The problem I am having now is that I cannot open any files( eg docx, movies. rar files). When I tried opening them it says "Sorry, we couldn't find your file. Was it moved, renamed or deleted?" despite the files are over 1KB in file size. 

The same can be said for videos as it will say it cannot find source or files doesn't exists. 

 

Things I have tried 

• Scan the drive for viruses ( using bitdefender)

 

Please help

Could you specify the model number of your WD My Passport? Do you have a password set on the drive? 

I would recommend downloading and running WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. Post back with the results!  

Also, I would try the drive on another computer with another USB cable and possibly with another OS and see if the results are any different.
