Hey,

I will give a bit of background to get the most accurate answer :

I am new to gaming. I have built computers in the past fro myself and fixed some for others. Building computers for myself has never required me to put too much thought into the power of a graphics card. My 5820K build didn't even require me to think about buying a high powered GPU because what I use it for, I don't need it (I got a GTX 950). I just purchased an LG 34UM67 monitor. I currently have it running on my daily machine using the on board graphics and my I-3 3100 on a MSI m7 board (I got the board with with the thought of upgrading CPU at some point in the future). I am thinking about getting into computer gaming and my first title would be GTA 5 and then some flight simulators. I would like to know which card would you recommend for playing at the max settings on my monitor ? I am not sure if I need to consider the GTX 1060 or 1070. Thanks in advance.

im guessing simulators is difficult to run so I'd go for a 1070. also

Thanks for the replies ..... So the resolution for this monitor is 2560x1080 ..... So it's somewhere between 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. Being that this monitor has a 60htz refresh rate and that it isn't 1440, would it be a better choice to get the 1060 or 1070 ?

I have a GTX 1070 and a 2560x1080 monitor I can't COMPLETELY MAX gta 5 out even with a MSI GTX 1070 gaming X and i7 6700k oced to 4.6 GHz and the gpu is also oced to 2100 MHz and 4500 MHz on the memory. To get a good fps I have to put grass and some other things at high and msaa at 2x and even then in grassy parts I dip down to 50 fps.

Oh wow.... I with my little ole I-3 6100 wouldn't make it that high then. I don't want to get a 6700K because then I have to get water cooling and all that. I would like to stick to my I-3 if possible. So I guess that means I would probably need to get something a bit more powerful to sort of fill the gap of the lagging processor.

Yes your i3 would bottleneck a lot.

that sucks

Something like an rx 460 would be a suitable card for you processor. It's also quite cheap but you will definetly have to compromise quality in demanding games, but if your into csgo. Wow. Etc this card is great.
