Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster on here! Love the forum!

Story goes:

I am in the process of building a PC for my dads 60th.

However I have encountered a problem when it comes to booting the damn thing.

No matter* what happens, the PSU fan won't spin for longer than 1 sec.

*No matter:

I have replaced the Mobo (suspected it was faulty)
I have tried a new/different PSU

I have tried booting without CPU/with CPU only

With RAM, without RAM

With GPU, without GPU

When i connect the PSU's they just turn on and stop. The corsair one "clicks" whenever it stops.
I had both CPU Cooler and on off - no difference (though CPU does get hot very quickly)

Specs are as follows:

Node 202 Case

PSU's: Corsair SFX 600 W/Fractal Design 450W SFX

CPU: 4770k

GPU: GTX 780

RAM: Kingston Hyper X 8GB

Mobo: MSI Z97i Gaming/Gigabyte H97N

I am lost as to what it could be as I can't get the PC to do anything regardless how much/how little components are connected.

This build needs to be done asap as I need to ship it out to him.

Any help/input would be greatly appreciated!

Are you running both PSUs simultaniously?

I doubt the Fractal Design could provide enough wattage on it's own, and the corsair is probably on the edge.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Its normal that your psu fan does't spin. The fan spins only when a specific amount of power is drawn from the psu to keep the overall system silent, so it won't spin until you are doing some heavy task on you pc.

Does your pc boot up?

No, what I meant was that I have tried both PSU's independently as I initially thought the FD one was broken.

No, the PC is not booting at all unfortunately, no sign of life, no post, Nothing.

and you have double checked all the power cables? 24 pin, 8 pin, etc?

PSU is turned on?

(Just double checking, I've made these mistakes more than I'd like to admit)

Haha, so have I - I'm not new when it comes to PC building before and I can generally diagnose an error when one arises.

Both PSU and CPU cables are connected when starting up - I've tried everything just for kicks however (with and without CPU cable).
