HELP! Buying the vive!

Armakar

Should I buy the vive?

I want to order it now. I hear the games on it are bad but nobody will stop tlaking about how even the most basic of games are enjoyable.

I have always had a high tolerance for games. I do not enjoy basic games, and get bored fast.

Is the vive kind of like a tv screen glued to a motion sensor? That doesn't sound amazing.

Do you need a huge room to play it in, as I live in an apartment.

Do I need to spend 5000000 £ to  get a half decent game?

Is it futureproof? I wouldn't want to spend £800 on a system that next year will be obsolete.

first you say you want to order it now,
then you say nothing about it is appealing...

what exactly are you asking from the forum? do you want us to sell you on the idea of buying the VIVE ?
VIVE and RIFT are both first gen products
more refinement can be expected in future revisions.
If youre not sold on the idea and ecosystem then dont buy it now. wait for the second gen

EDIT: dont buy it.

I am defintley drawn to the vive, i'm just wondering if it's worth it. Obviously i'd live a vive, but not owning one and not bieng able to try one means I have no idea if I would enjoy it or not.

I own one with my brother. It's a fun experience. And there are definitely enjoyable games. Overall it is a fun experience and fun to watch others experience the same thing. But I would say it isn't worth the $800. Unless you are going to use it a lot. Another thing my brother and I split the cost. And split the time with the Vive making it worth it. It also makes for a neat thing to show friends and family.

My Gaming Rig (Build November 2014):

CPU: i7-4790K | CPU Cooler: H110 | Motherboard: MSI Z97s SLI Plus | RAM: Vengeance DDR3 1886 MHz 2 x 4GB |
GPU: GTX 970 G1 Gaming | SSD: 2 x 840 EVO 250GB and 2 x 850 EVO 250GB in RAID0 | PSU: HX750 | Case: Fractal Design XL R2 |
