I just want to know if there's anything in this build that won't work together.

Yes, however, ROOKIE MISTAKE

For 99% of gaming, i recommend a i5 6500.

As for the rookie mistake, Intel CPU's without the K after the PN, such as 6700K, are non overclockable

Z170 chipset boards are designed for overclocking, meaning you are paying extra for features your CPU cannot use.

Yes it's for 1080p gaming nothing more. I'm planning to overclock the processor if that's what you think is unbalanced. Does it work?

Read my post.

Non K CPU's cannot be overclocked.

So, you are a fool for thinking you can OC a I3.

You save some money by not going with a Z170 board (You're not overclocking a non K cpu anyway) and also saving some cash on a cheaper SSD (Bit slower but you mostly won't miss the extra speed on day to day usage) But you gain a true 4 core CPU which should work a lot better long term.

In the long term, 4 actual cores is better than 2 cores hyperthreaded and with overclocking.

Not a lot of people know this I guess.

It disables losts of features, liek jailbreaking a phone.

Thunderbolt is no longer supported, the temperature sensors stop working.

THat is the main problem, the tepm sensors.

It means that you CPU will continue to run hotter and hotter until it breaks (if you have a crappy cooler).

To clarify: you might be able to overclock a non K processor. But it involves flashing your motherboard BIOS, not being able to monitor CPU temperatures easily and not being able to use the igpu at all (even with a GPU you can still use the igpu for a secondary display for example) and while intel hasn't done it they threatened to implement a microcode update to completely disable this anyway.

Is not really worth it imho.

Who overclocks on stock cooler :P  I got a tight budget atm and when I get the money for a good cooler (probably hydro) I will overclock this. I don't mind the disadvantages as this is purely a gaming machine.
