SSD Throttling???

TheNewMasterD

Hello, so I got a new SSD to store my games on last week - the OCZ Trion 150 480gb. Everything is great, but fairly regularly, like when I am loading into a game of LOL, or into a battle of TWW, or back to the campaign map (haven't used it for other games yet), the usage will shoot up to 100% and it won't do anything until it comes back down. It just locks up. I am running Windows off of my Samsung 840 Pro, if that would make a difference. Any ideas what is going on/ how can I fix this?

Edit: When I say it won't do anything, that would include loading what it should be loading.

When it happens again open task manager and sort by HDD usage to find the culprit process. But I have a feeling it's a windows system process.

Update your AHCI drivers, chances are you are using Microsoft's driver which is known for causing this issue.

Usage means command queues. i.e., how much the OS is pinging the drive for something.

Also if you hammer a drive with requests, it will never achieve full speed because those requests have latency that can't be avoided.

Windows system processes can do this to the drive that doesn't have Windows on it?
