Better Headset or Better Mouse?

Go to solution Solved by frunze,

In my personal case, better mouse first, better headset goes 2nd. Because I prefer a better mouse = better movement accuracy (a better movement accuracy would give a better game control over almost in every genre of games), meanwhile a better sound output wouldn't give much difference if you're playing a MOBA or MMORPG games (it would give a big difference in an FPS game for sure). Well, I play Dota 2 too, and sometimes a better headset can give you a map awareness if an enemy cast a skill in a fog of war (outside your line of sight), but from my own experiences, even a good headset & crappy headset wouldn't give me any difference in map awareness, since I could still hear an enemy casts in FOW even with a crappy $10 headset.
And there my opinion go: A better mouse would give an overall better experience in controlling everything, not just one or two games. Meanwhile a better headset would only cause your ear smiles, but wouldn't affects your gameplay very much (unless you plays FPS a lot)

Hi, I'm currently facing a dilemma. I currently use the following headphones and mouse for gaming:
Apple EarPods
Gigabyte M6900 Gaming Mouse

Now, I have the option to replace either one with:
Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma
Razer Naga Hex V2

So, what do you think I should buy? Which one do u think is more important towards comtributing to a better gaming experience? Please tell, thanks!

What games do you play and why razer?

Well, I'm mainly gonna play dota 2. I live in a third world country so I dont have the variety you guys have. My uncle has travelled to Netherlands for 14 days and I'm allowed to have ONE item under 100€ or roughly $120. I have a razer deathstalker and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Razer is a good brand so I'm willing to buy one more item of it.

While i dont play any MOBAs i think you should change out which ever of the prdoucts you have that you feel are uncomfy or restricting your performance. I dont know why you'd want the Naga as i thought it was a MMO mouse only. Wouldn't something like the razer abyssus with light weight and good clicks be more suitable?

razer is the best brand for computer accessories

That is not very accurate. Razer is commonly criticized for high price and questionable quality.

For mouse you can also look at Logitech. Several good mouses under 100 Euro. The 500 series have great mouses. I myself use a G700(s). That also doens't cost a bunch anymore with the new G900 out these days and the wireless is good enought to game, but if you want can still go wired anyway.

I would also take a mouse for your question btw. If no good controls it really sucks for experiences.

My earpods have absolutely no problem detecting skills in the fog. But I think I'll agree with u that I need the mouse. Btw, it seems that all mice start to double click after 4-6 months of use. What will I do if it happens to razer naga? I repaired my gigabyte m6900 but ended up ruining my mouse feet. I dont want the razer to end up like that

Btw, is the ONE thing really 1 thing, because you might mix and match if it's due to max price.

Ah, I'm so confused. The earpods are good, but the 7.1 surround sound is appealing. My mouse has some worn out pads, but the razer naga is just so good. I want both (facepalm)

I'm sorry, the 7.1 surround sound gaming headset are definitely busted xD it's just another marketing gimmick, and can't give you a real 7.1 surround 9_9

I've seen the mouse lean against the edge of the screen several times. I think I'll SURELY go for the mouse. Btw, any mouse better than naga hex?

Many brands have a good gaming oriented mouse though. Logitech, Corsair, Steelseries, Roccat, Asus, CoolerMaster, Gigabyte, aaaaaand so many more options. But first thing first, I see a problem of aftersales here. If you're so concerned with a mouse breaking down in the future, then be sure to check the brand of your options. Make sure that your choosen brand have a decent aftersales coverage (RMA or servicing warranty) in your country. If that brand doesn't have a decent warranty coverage in your country, or you plan to buy that brand in Germany, then again, be sure to check that warranty coverage in Germany.
