Xbox Controller Rebind For Witcher 3

I just got my girlfriend an Xbox wireless controller for her to enjoy Witcher 3.  The issue is she has very limited use in her left hand and is finding the controller barely better than the keyboard.   To my amazement I cannot rebind the controller in Witcher 3, she needs the left joystick for movement rebound to the D-PAD, and vica versa basically for easier usage.

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.

I honestly don't know if it can be done with the xbox controller. Check for a mod on the nexus for witcher 3 (just google witcher 3 nexus) and see if there's any luck there.

What I used to do is use a regular controller (like a generic logitech one) and use xpadding to bind keyboard to the controller. It has triggering functions too (for example joystick is binded to WASD but if you push harder it runs so it binds SHIFT+WASD if you push the stick all the way, etc)

I will be looking, you know of any off the top of your head?

She is making do, but to be fully honest I want her to sit and enjoy a game, and not require me to help her, it's something I don't mind doing, I just wish her to get that extra bit of independence.
