So I'm looking for some kind of program that will let 2 people code something at the same time and change the files as they go, kinda like good docs. But I want the files to be able to stay where they are without uploading them to some server. Does anyone know how this can be done?

But would that be in real time?

Real time and file on your machine isn't possible.

Google Docs is free and works great, ShiftEdit was free and worked good when I used it back in college.

EDIT: Oh you want something you can run locally, in that case I don't know of anything like that.

EDIT2: Have you tried using Google Docs with the desktop app? Keep the file synced with Google Docs and do the edits in the browser.
