Hi all, long time no see and all that

I was just about to wind down with a game after a long day, and lo and behold, no life in the good old gaming rig. sad face.

The symptoms: The fans gets a little jolt when i push the power button, and then spin down again almost immediately. Then there's no response in the power button. If I unplug from the wall and let the capacitors and what-have-you discharge, then I get to try again, but the results are the same each time.

I tried a different PSU and the system sprung to life. The failed PSU is a Fractal Design Newton R3 1000W (overkill, I know, but I have my reasons). Rest of the system: 4670K, MSI Z87-GD65, Kingston HyperX Predator.

Have anyone had similar things happen to them, fractal or no fractal? I got to thinking, this PSU was from the early/pre Haswell days and I tend to let my computer go to sleep a lot for long periods of time... could this be a result of the C7 power state?

Cheers

Fractal doesn't actually manufacture the PSU so any similarities people have had to, say, the Integra series, is purely coincidental. Just go through an RMA and get a replacement.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
