Hi, thanks for the reply.

I'm sorry, but the issue isn't what motherboard I should get, I already have one! (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97AR/)

My question is what the process of replacing it should be in regards to reinstalling the operating system!

You install the CPU/MB ect. and than you install the OS.

Hello everyone! New here, so really unsure where to post this, but here goes;

So I'm upgrading from an AMD FX-8350 processor to an Intel i7 4790k. Obviously I need to upgrade my motherboard too SOOOO.. The question I have is

What the heck do I do?

I have a bootable flash drive with Windows 10 on it ready to install just in case, I have the majority of stuff on my hard drive gone, and I think I'm about ready to switch out the components. What steps do I need to take exactly? Should I leave everything as is, swap motherboards, then go into the BIOS of the new motherboard and boot from the flash drive to choose a clean install? Or do I need to factory reset before installing the new motherboard and processor?

Any help or even general advice is much appreciated. Thank you!
