Hey guys, I'm posting here because I've got a few questions to ask about performance/build etc and i just want to clarify the budget that I have.

I am from Australia so i use AUD, the prices are buffed up when converting etc so just wanted to clarify that.

I have a 2000$ MAX budget. I originally set my budget to like 1.7-1.8 but I realised that I came up with a minor issue.

I'm not sure whether i should go for a 1440p monitor for gaming or 1080p. Now, I don't play games that are extremely demanding, I play casual games like LoL, CS:GO, Overwatch, GTA V, Rocket League etc. You may also wonder why i'm spending so much money for games that require moderate performance to easily achieve 60fps+. I kind of want my PC to be upgrade-proof for 5 years or so.

I am very open to what build you guys come up with, I'm not particularly a fan of AMD based graphics cards, I've been an Nvidia fan my whole life but if there is clear proof of better performance I'll take it into consideration.

Build I'm thinking of: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/sqXYgL

P.S : The monitor is included in the 2000$ budget.

I would switch the i5 for an i7 6700k.  It has better performance making it more upgrade proof and will give you the option to play more demanding titles if you want to later.  You could overclock it with you cooler too.  http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/2n3TJV   You didn't have any storage listed either.

I think this can be over priced to your budget(if tax and shipping costs included), but this will look good and perform great. GTX 1060 is the best gpu for 1080p gaming on any games with max setting hitting 60+ fps. If you are gonna play games only, then 8gb is enough for it. i7 6700k is not worth the price against the performance you will gain, and i5 6600k can oc to 4.6ghz. I think this will look really good with these rgb lightings on mobo and aio liquid cooler in the case, and the psu is good enough to power these components, even if you max oc cpu and gpu. If you don't like the mobo I recommend ASUS Z170-A instead. It is cheaper than ASUS ROG mobo, but no big difference in performance. Also, Windows 10 can be purchased less than $40 in this website: http://www.kinguin.net/

My build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kcqy4C

750W for a 1060? You know you can run SLI 1080s on a 650W with power to spare right?...

Buying such high capacity PSUs for Pascal is a waste of money.

I changed the build little cheaper. PSU is different, but costs same as before. I hope you spend some money on psu, because it's the most important to your build. It has 10 years warrant too, so I think it's worth the money. Also, 650w is not enough for overclocked sli 1080s, and psu calculator isn't 100% accrurate. So you should buy the psu that is 100-150w higher than the recommended one.

Yeah i'll be buying a PSU haha ofcourse i would be.
But to be honest I really don't see the need of getting a water-cooling system.. I mean yeah i need cooling but I don't do heavy editing, I don't really plan to use photoshop/video editing programs that much at all nor do i think I'm going to overclock but i'm really open to the idea of it because i've never done it. I may grab the water-cooling system if i do want to try and overclock as I've never done it before.

P.S the 980ti outperforms the 1060? unless the 980ti is optimized for 1440p etc.

gtx 1060 and 980 performs nearly same, so 980 ti will perform better, but instead of 980 ti, 1070 would cost less and perform better than 980 ti.

If i overclock the 1060 GTX it'll peform better and nearly as good as a non-overclocked 1080 from this article.

I've checked some other benchmarks and it doesn't perform as good as the 980TI.
even when it's overclocked. I'm willing to go for the 1070 just to assure complete 60fps+ in any game for 1080p but if the 1060 or the 980ti assures me 60fps+ all the time then I'll go for one of those.

Not only is it cost efficient but if I do decide to overclock it, it will handle games way better than the 980ti, even the 1070gtx non-overclocked.
I haven't overclocked in my life before but i think I will after seeing this.

as they were not overclocked. Overclocked gtx 1060 will be good enough to run the games in 1080p, but it doesn't perform well in 1440p. For 1440p you should get 1070.
