Help choosing new monitor

Lucaz97

Hi all,

I'd like to get rid of my 800*600 4:3 monitor 9_9, buy a new one, and use the one that is currently my main monitor as second one (20" 1600x900).

With my pc I mostly do work tasks. Primary Eclipse and Android Studio, more occasionally Unreal Engine 4 or Unity (but still I work on the code part not the graphics). I also do a little of web design and IoT.

It happens I play games but I am not a demanding player.

So, my budget is not really clear yet (I should get some money for a job for the end of the month but not sure of the ammount........ ) therefor I was looking for a 100 to 300 € range (the best would be having two options, one in the low and one in the high... )

I am also not sure about the resolution, for what I saw there are also 1440p monitors in my range... But you gotta also look at my graphics card, in my signature (yep is the worst part of my pc).

So, money saved will go in the graphics card (probably a 1060 3gb or a 470 idk yet, but my tasks dont really require gpu beasts).

Those are the ones I've looked at so far and liked (please if suggesting look on amazon.it or taocomputer.eu):

Thanks in advance for the time dedicated.

Personally I would just save until I could buy a new graphics card and monitor at the same time. Not sure how a card like that ended up in your system but I would definitely do it justice by going with a rx 470 or another card in your price range and a 1080p monitor. Or even save more and buy a better GPU and 1440p monitor

So even for not heavy graphics task a 1440p requires a powerful gpu :( ?

I agree, but when programming having a nice height allows to read a decent ammount of lines at one time without having to continue scorrling...

Is a 29 " wide going to have a height equal or higher than a 20" 16:9 ?

EDIT: ok is basic math, it is slightly higher, then would be nice ... but i was considering some 24-25 hd or qhd and those would be higher

I would reccomend this one then since you can just swivel it vertically. That way you can have 29 inches of height for coding.

Well no it doesn't but your rig is quite capable and you said you do play some games so why not have a decent GPU. The rx470 you already suggested is probably fine for what you need

This solution is kinda great!

And for the graphics card I've seen here: http://www.taocomputer.eu/shop2007/scheda.asp?id=34918 RX 470 225€

and http://www.taocomputer.eu/shop2007/scheda.asp?id=34903 RX 480 254€

If the prices are so closes I will porbably go with the 480, also I just got a call for two jobs  I should start soon and get done by the end of September so I will start getting the monitor so i can work on it and then buy the gpu

Thank you guys!

When I built it I gave no budget to the gpu cuz I had this friend with this gpu that would have borrowed it to me, thinking that pascal was just around the corner... Then  pascal is freacking expensive and I was waiting for some reviews to pick the right bang for the buck..
