I have two SSD in my PC:
43ya.jpg

I'm using the 840 Pro as my boot drive and my Vertex 2 as storage. The problem is that there are times that the vertex 2 is not being recognized. What I'm doing is restarting my PC for it to be recognized. I'm connecting both SSD in SATA3 port (I'm using G1 Sniper M5 as my board).

Anyway how to solve this issue? Thanks

Click Start, Search for Run and open it, then type diskmgmt.msc in the Open: line and click OK. Once the Disk manager opens see if the Vertex 2 SSD is recognized and in the list. I'm assuming that the SSD is new and has never been formatted into any file type therefore it is not recognized and shown in My Computer. If it is in the list, right click on the unallocated space of the Vertex 2 SSD (make sure it is that SSD because if not you will end up formating the wrong drive) and the click Format... (WARNING if you have any data stored on the Vertex 2 SSD do NOT follow any of these steps since they will wipe all of the data on the SSD) then format it to NTFS and click OK.

If the Vertex 2 SSD isn't anywhere on the list in the Disk manager then make sure that your BIOS is up to date on your motherboard and what @ said make sure your SATA is set to AHCI.

I'm sure that my SATA was set to AHCI. By the way, the vertex 2 is being detected in the disk management.

Also, this vertex 2 is already old. I used this before in my laptop. Right now, the vertex is showing up as seen in the disk management, but I can't access the files inside it.

Welcome to the joys of Vertex 2 ownership. I have a 480GB one and it doesn't always show up and I have to reboot. I found disabling fast boot increases the likelihood of it being detected, but I've yet to find an actual solution. Googling the problem just results in forum posts by other people with the same problem. I tried reflashing the controller with new drivers but that didn't work so now I just tolerate the periodic reboots.

But why is that when I used it in my laptop (as a storage again. since I have a corsair as my main ssd) it didn't have any problem?

No idea, like I said all I know is that it's a very common problem for Vertex 2s to not be recognized. Perhaps it's on a particular type of SATA controller (e.g. Marvell vs Intel etc.). Really have no idea I'm afraid. Interested to see what this thread throws up though xD
