Hi all,

So after a few polls I'm down to 2 options a fx 8350 and a GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P

Or a i5 4670 and a GIGABYTE G1.SNIPER B5 INTEL B85

These are the only 2 mobo choices I have so don't suggest others.

Thanks in advance :)

Tell him to get a decent board, but so you can still OC get the 8350 and crap 970 board, it will just have crap performance compared to a 990x board. B85 doesn't allow you to OC in general

Get an 8320 with a 970 board. OCing a 8320 will give you nearly the same performance as the 8350.

Because it fits my budget

Well then get an 8320 or 6300 and a 990x board? why get the benefit of a better cpu if you can't use it? pointless

I'm not too fussed about overclocking for now so it's not really pointless. I want an atx board as it looks better in a full tower and has room for more Ram or other upgrades

I don't see how having an atx board means anything to what I'm saying? 990x and Z87 boards are atx as well, what your budget?

I'm saying that because I don't want anything more expensive. The next boards up like the z boards and 990fx boards are too much. I have a 990fx on my other pc and it's nice but expensive. This build is aimed at performance just not overclocking as then I'd be best to get a better cooler and with the more expensive mobo means I'd have enough money for only a shit gpu

Your not OCing so keep the standard cooler or like an evo which are cheap,

Other places can be cheaper but to be honest thats a low price for a mobo for AUS/NZ

Any chance of going fx6300 and GB 970a ud3 for the better power phase?

I'll never go near asrock. And I love msi but would rather a full atx board. I guess I'll look out for some other mobo options

Get a 350D, or a prodigy M, asrock make good mobos, cousin has one in his build, no problems?

Yes but it is B85, sometimes you need to spend more to make it worth it, otherwise you will be disappointed

I'm not talking about quality but future use, you will want to OC one day or have the option save the money and buy the Z87 or 990x board, otherwise you will be buying another board in the future/ another setup. Its like $20-30 more and worth it?

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Then a slightly better power supply will be required. It all pushes the budget up more

What psu are you using? What the whole system? Cause you say one thing and then add info to something i have no clue about....Changing mobo shouldn't change your psu

Well if I start over clocking then I'd have to get a slightly higher watt psu. The thing is he has little money as it is and I'm trying to keep the costs down. Getting the k version CPU (if I went intel) , a better cooler, a board for overclocking then a slightly bigger psu. The amount that would cost I would rather put into a higher end gpu
