So whenever I'm playing any video game, whether it be Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, or some MMOs that I play, the computer will do an abrupt power off and restart itself. It never happens during any graphically intensive or strenuous scenes, just randomly in between battles or sometimes right in the middle of the action. (Which is SUPER annoying and detrimental to my rank and my team) My computer doesn't lag at all whenever this happens, and FPS drops almost never happen on my computer. I have confirmed that it isn't an issue with the wall outlet, which confuses me even more. I have a triple monitor setup using nVidia Surround to create one 5760x1080 monitor however I haven't played the games on all the monitors in a while now. I play windowed 1920x1080 on all my games and use the others for productivity. I think it may be my power supply, however I don't recall which model it is and I will repost later when I figure that out. I don't think anything is overheating as my computer has never overheated and the air in the exhaust is always cool. Could it be that I'm running out of VRAM? This has only happened since I have used a triple monitor setup. My GPU has 2GB of VRAM, however as I said before I don't do surround gaming right now. Here are my specs if anyone wants them.

Windows 10 64bit

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard

MSI Twin Frozr IV GTX 760 OC Edition

Intel i7-4770 (3.4GHz) cooled by Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Kingston HyperBlu DDR3 2400MHz 16GB RAM (2x8)

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm HDD

3x BenQ GL2460HM 1080p monitors

It's the power supply. Please post the power supply model as well when posting specs.   Excuse my stupidity.  Wait, you said you don't recall the model, but it's clearly listed in your profile o.O

It's a faulty power supply. This is how they let us know that they're dying. I wouldn't be surprised if it was another Corsair model. :P

It's an 800W EliteXStream 80 Plus Bronze.

The power supply in my profile is not the power supply im currently using, thats my old one, however this could be the issue as my power supply was a cheap one from some company i dont even remember. Could anyone reccomend a power supply that is reliable and efficient for this system?

Anything from 500-750W should be fine. Maybe go for a 650W one.

Some good companies:

  • EVGA
  • Corsair (Not CX series)
  • BeQuiet
  • I can't remember any more but there are others.

I edit my posts a lot.

Thanks for the advice. How does this EVGA Supernova 650 G2 80Plus sound? Its fully modular. http://www.ncix.com/detail/evga-supernova-650-g2-80-3e-111660.htm

Could you explain the eco mode functionality, is it the one where the fans dont ramp up until a certain wattage?

I'm thinking of a Seasonic M12II 620W. That's should do fine with your current configuration.

Yep, that looks good. 7 year warranty too!

The EVGA site says:

Ultra Quiet Fan with ECO Intelligent Thermal Control Fan system (Zero Fan Noise < 45°C)

So it's silent until it reaches that temperature in the power supply.
