This is for a laptop, but I have an issue that popped up when I reinstalled Windows 7 (because it seems there was a compatibility issue with Windows 10). The issue is that neither the on-board graphics for the i7-2630qm, or the AMD hd7xxx series on this laptop are recognized, instead they are shown as "VGA adaptors", I have tried downloading drivers, but cant as the "necessary hardware", that being the two things I previously mentioned, are not recognized, so what exactly do I do at this point?

To start with, you need the drivers from the laptop manufacturer site. All of them.

For example if you have an Acer laptop, you need to go to the acer homepage, put in the model and get the drivers from there. Sometimes they will offer even GPU drivers, get them too, yes they will be outdated but they are knowen to work and updating to the lastest GPU driver can be done later.

Now you need to de-install the hardware:

Go to device manager

Search for the hardware in question, rightlick on it and choose "deinstall" & do a reboot.

It also cant hurt to get DDU and CCleaner to run a check for driver remnants after you deinstalled it from the device manager.

Now you install the drivers you downloaded before and it should be fixed.

btw. I'd recommend to do one at a time, so first dGPU, than iGPU.

If that does not fix it another option would be to, again from device manager, doubleclick the hardware in question, choose the second tab called "driver" and second option from the top, "update driver". Try both manual & automatic. For manual you ofc need to have the driver allready downloaded.

@Nord or quote me if you want me to reply back. I don't necessarily check back or subscribe to every topic.
