So i am building a pc for my brother and i want to check and see if these parts are ok.

There are some things i want to point out: 1. The reason i am buying an OS key is because he does not have 100 dollars for a proper OS. (Don't judge) 2. The reason i have powerline is that he does not have an ethernet port in his room and wireless is too far away from his room.

Go with a Z170 mobo instead, so you could get 6600k/6700k whenever you need/want it

Main gaming pc: Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh Performance - Ryzen 5 5600X - MSI GTX1080Ti Armor - AMD Wraith Spire RGB - ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz - 500GB M.2 (and a few other drives)

Gaming laptop: ASUS GL552VW: i7 6700HQ - GTX960M 2GB - 8GB DDR4 2166Mhz RAM - 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Overclocking is not something he is interested in.

Ok, then that mobo is fine :)

Hey there :)

The plan looks quite well. I would suggest to consider a single 8GB memory stick instead of 2x4GB for budget and future upgrade purposes as you are not likely to see any performance differences.

What would the purpose of this build be? If it's for gaming, what games and what settings are you after?

Even though the SSD would dramatically boost the overall performance of the build, reduce the loading and boot times and improve the responsiveness of the build you wouldn't really see any difference in gaming besides shorter loading times on the ones installed on it. Graphics are FPS are not affected by the storage's performance so you could even go as far as dropping the SSD if you need some extra budget for the other parts. Adding one later on is always an option.

Hello to you too =D. The plan of this build is to build a desktop PC for my brother and it will be for gaming (mainly civ6) and general usage for things from his university. I am an advocate of an SSD and HDD combo since i have expirence with HDD only systems after one year.(It slows down alot and i cannot format it as there are too many valuable files) The single stick of memory is a good idea but, i am wondering if an SSHD is more pratical than just an SSD and HDD.

If you need help with your current HDD and its performance feel free to ask. :) There should be ways to improve its performance and I'd be happy to help with that. Feel free to drop me a PM, post a new topic and tag me there or simply ask here. :)

the planned parts should suffice for the needed performance so you should be good on the performance side.

SSHDs are good for certain types of usage. However, there are a couple big disadvantages when it comes to comparing a SSHD with a HDD+SSD combo:

- you have absolutely no influence on what goes in the SSD portion of the drive as it caches files based on what its firmware decides is the most commonly used on the system. You basically have not access to the SSD portion of the drive and cannot choose what goes there and what stays on the HDD.

- the SSD part itself on a SSHD drive is rather small (usually 8GB or 16GB) and can't fit much data on it, let alone have a full installation of a OS, game or an application. It works faster than a HDD but still considerably slower compared to a pure SSD.

SSHDs are great for single-bay systems that are mostly used for just a few things such as office laptops, workstations that are used solely for one major application, etc.

I would go with a combo instead of a hybrid drive in this case. :)
