4K Editing PC Lagging??

Hello, so this is my rig:

 

CPU: i7 4790k

GPU: AMD SHAPPIRE R9 280 3GB

MOBO: MSI Z97IAC

RAM: 8GB DDR3

AiO: 280mm Corsair AiO

HDD: 1TB WD Blue

 

and I am trying to edit 4K footage in the .mp4 format and it's just impossible, premier keeps crashing, huge frame drops and its so hard to edit. Any suggestions??

 

I think I will need to invest in a solid SSD but I thought my rig should be able to handle 4K with a i7 4790K ??

I think your gpu isnt powerful enough? maybe try updating your drivers? hope this helps

CPU hits around 60-80% use when scrubbing and editing

No man its graphics related because graphics focuz on PIXELS . And a 4K monitor is also needed

Altough, i might just have to agree. The gpu is ultraball underwhelming, especially for 4K...

You dont need a 4K moniter to edit 4K and when did I say what moniter I had??

Possibly hitting the bottleneck on HDD data transfer when it's trying to read a 4K video straight from the drive?
