AMD 7770 low FPS

Go to solution Solved by pwner5889,

Nevermind!! I finally got it to work. Had to overclock my CPU and bump up the voltage quite a bit. Works fine now.

Alright, so I bought a pair of 2 AMD XFX 7770 Core Edition. Anyways, I keep getting extremely low FPS in all of my games, namely BF3 and Hitman Absolution. I keep getting 8 to 20 FPS on the lowest settings. Doesn't matter what I try, I ran only one card, same thing. I ran with crossfire, same thing. I ran AMD's driver uninstaller, and updated to the latest Beta drivers. I am still getting the same problem. I have no idea what i'm supposed to do because I should not be having any issues with these cards. Here are my specs.

AMD FX 4100 Stock Clocks, with a Corsair H55 Water Cooler.

16GB of DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Gaming Memory

Dual AMD 7770s

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 with the latest Beta BIOS

Corsair 650W 80+ PSU

If it helps any, my case is a Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced. Ambient temps are only 75 degrees F. If anyone can help me that would be awesome! Thanks!

That's strange, best I can think of is a CPU bottleneck but probably not.

Have you tried closing all unnecessary background applications before gaming and seeing if that helps?

The better question is why you have two 7770s, but moving on.

You sure you have a Crossfire bridge in place?

No offense, but why did you buy 2 bottom of the line GPUs, an expensive motherboard and a low end processor?

And maybe, as Sarcasm said, you may not have a Crossfire bridge in place.

Did you activate Crossfire mode in the drivers?

That's all the money I had at the time of building my PC. I plan on upgrading my CPU soon anyways.

while gaming, minimize game and check in task manager if cpu is loaded 100%. If yes, it's making a bottleneck, if not then it's GPU problem for sure. So, first thing you have to do is, take off one card and check fps with single gpu. If fps is good, then this problem comes from crossfire...

I did, I only have one card in right now. I tried both GPUs one at a time and I am getting the same issue.

$220 could have had you a GTX 660/R7870/R7950 :(

But other than Crossfire not being activated in the drivers, I am stumped. Good luck with finding the solution.

did you try to switch the card? Maybe problem is in one of them?

the other thing you can do is, install other video card, to ensure problem comes from gpu. If you have neighbor who can lend video card for a test...

Or you're trying to run lowest triple surround 1080p.

CPU is 100% load. :-/ that's probably why then..... :-/ Alright.... Guess I gotta overclock then.

You can try that but you may want to look at getting a new cpu....

I didn't know amd cpu's were so weak... And it's 4 core cpu, right? That's why Intel is leading brand in cpu's. Get Intel cpu next time mate.
