Was this a good idea

I am flying to India tomorrow (crap country, not looking forward to it) for 3 weeks cos dad's family lives there, my parents suggested that I don't take my big iPad `Pro as they say it would get lost, broken or stolen and instead take a £50 kindle fire with a 64gb so card. My only issue is that the screen is small and low red and I was going to some work in India. 

'They will let me take my OnePlus 2 for pictures and such, but the issue is that I am going for 3 weeks. 

'The only good thing they said was that since we only go every 4 years I may not have to go again when I get into university

I personally don`t see anything wrong with bringing your ipad (or laptops or w/e).

 

I mean, if someone was to break in and steal your stuff, you have more valuable things to lose (passports / credit cards?)

 

At least with an ipad, you can just remotely wipe it to prevent any private data from getting out.
