Windows Auto Mic Adjust Problems

So ive got a friend with a blue snowball and basically the problem is everytime he launches any game yes even singleplayer ones with no built in voip feature, his mic spikes to 100 and explodes our ears with static. Yes we have done the exclusive control off, yes we have set the sound communication thing to "do nothing" It wont go away, every single game, no matter what, instant mic spike to 100. We even did a fresh windows install, and tried all the previously mentioned settings again, still not solved. Its also really annoying for him since he streams and launching a game on stream does the same thing and its "RIP headphone users" in the chat lmao.

There has to be some solution to this because i dont suffer from the problem, but i also dont have a blue snowball. Im sure he would like any solution that isnt "get another mic" Ive done massive amounts of googling for him, and none of the so called solutions worked or even really matched the exact issue.

TLDR Over View Of Issue

>Launch any game
>Mic level auto adjusts to 100
>Static Explosion for anyone on his stream or in discord begins
>No obvious options work ie "Do Nothing" and "Exclusive Control Off"

On your sound settings, have you set a limit of what it can go to?

wait what? got a screen shot of the option?

I dont but:

1. Search "Sound"

2. Click the "recording" tab

3. Select your device and hit the "Properties" button at the bottomish right

4. Click "Levels" tab

5. Choose what you want to set it to. (Mine is 72)

only thing there is the level slider and yeh he has it set to something but windows likes to spike it to 100 whenever he launches a game, so its kinda useless.

id you use skype and you click audio settings, there's an "automaticly adjust box, if thats clicked, that might be the problem.

no skype no drivers. snowball is plug and play, its a generic mic to windows.

My very last tip, is has he tried different USB ports? If it doesn't use them then you can get an adapter, which the one I got removed all background noise and improved quality.
