Need USB hub Help

I have a 2.1A 12V car charger which is connected to my Note 3 via a USB 3.0 cable on the phone end and a regular USB 2.0 on the male end. It charges very quickly in this setup.

My question is would this work for a USB 2.0 hub? My plan is to put a USB hub in my car so I can charge my phone and connect various things to it. It will be connected to the 2.1A car charger and then the 12V cigarette lighter. The USB hub I'm planning on using will be both USB 2.0 on the male and female ends. Will this cause my phone to trickle charge? Would a better bet be to get a USB 3.0 hub?
