Hey guys,

I was going to buy the gtx 1080, but nowadays the price are very high and is very difficult to find one. So, maybe it better to save some money and grab the gtx 1070 instead. Do you guys think the gtx 1070 will be sufficient to drive 4k 45fps+ at a least High preset (in AAA titles)?

BTW, currently I own a gtx 770, so both of the gpus will provide a huge update. Also, I am staying on the US for a short amount of time, so I cannot wait until the price go down or AMD launch their new gpu.

Thanks in advance.

on ultra it can't be done

But if you lower some settings, you can get there probbably :)

for 4K, it's recommended to use GTX 1080

4k 45 FPS would be pushing it. Currently the sweetspot for the 1070 is 1440P I feel like with mostly 60+FPS across the board, In 4K it gets around 30 when max settings. For 4K High to max I would get the 1080. But it can do it, but there might be some drops under 40FPS. If you want an enjoyable game in 4K the 1080 is your best bet, but as I said the 1070 can do it, but it will struggle in the more intensive scenes.

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

Don't wait for Vega, its not launching this year.

You're probably fine with a 1070 but it depends on what games you play, and whether you are ok with turning down the odd setting.

Hm... I am OK on turning down some settings.

I think I will go with the gtx 1070 and save some money (that I can use to upgrade in the future).

I am thinking to go with the Gigabyte G1 or the Zotac Amp (not Extreme). I don't like the new design from EVGA...

Edit: Do you guys think the $300 difference between the 1080 and 1070, worth it?

If you watch through these 4K benchmarks, its clear both the 1080 and 1070 aren't always going to do 45fps with maxed out settings. It's usually a ~6FPS difference between the two. But turning down the odd settings would probably greatly boost both, and that's before overclocking.
