Hey guys, I have been using the hyper x cloud 2's for around 4 weeks now and I must say they aren't too bad.

The main problem I have with them is that the directional sound is awful. Would getting a sound card such as the asus Xonar DSX improve the directional sound?

I play alot of games such as CSGO and the ARMA series and I find it extremely hard locating players with just sound alone.

Cheers,

-Keelan

Thats really the drawback to headsets with "virtual" surround.

Since 2 speakers are emulating the the 7.1, the fall short there. I've got them too and didn't like it about those headphones either.

I just don't turn it on anymore. I use them for quieter gaming sessions and their mic.

The sound card, I don't know.

Yeah I understand this. The headset is not too shabby it's just the 7.1 that lets it down.

Yea, it sucks. I got mine on some Amazon deal with R6 Siege for 60 or 70.

I love their comfort, ability to be forgot about on my head, and the shorter split cable.

It's really the first headset I found that I can put on, game and then go to get up and almost forget they were on to begin with.

Too right. They are definitively the best feeling headset I have worn.

I have the original Clouds and they are very good at directional even though they are just stero sound! I would just turn off the virtual surround sound as this can sometimes be mushy to say the least! I have used 7.1 virtual headsets and to me it is just not worth it!
