hihi I'm currently having issues with my PC and have been for a while until today which I can no longer tolerate.

I have two issues:

  1. Windows 10 only PROPERLY boots when CPU is overclocked. When not overclocked, I boot into a black and screen have to reset until I get lucky enough to access windows. I got lucky with this finding and have settled with my overclock since.
  2. My CPU is spiking 100% usage when gaming. This started happening today. I've had this overclocked for a week already, stress tested for ~18 hours with no errors until today. Previously gaming with this overclock showed no issues.

I've monitored temperatures, both GPU and CPU stable at 24C when idle and max ~62C when gaming

CPU running up to 100% can mean a lot of things. It could show that the overclock is unstable, you could just be playing a very CPU bound game it could also mean you have virus' or other unwanted programs on your computer.

I don't have any answers why your computer will not post when your OC is disabled. If it was my computer I'd mess around with it trying to get it to work but I don't have the answers and even if I did I couldn't explain how to diagnose the issue and fix it.

Also note:

The Motherboard is mediocre. I do not recommend Overclocking on that motherboard since it has no VRM cooling.

The PSU is low end. I also don't recommended overclocking anything on that PSU.

Did you try running everything stock and clearing your cmos? also win 10 is somewhat picky about hardware changes. I had a few issues myself when installing my ssd.

Try booting into safe mode first and check if everything work ok:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

about your cpu running at 100%, check background processes and set your game at minimum settings. If the problems persist then it could be hardware or virus related.

@Comic_Sans_MS not really concerned as to whether or not I should/could overclock right now. I can upgrade.

@xGGAx I'll try it soon. As for CPU, I managed to monitor my CPU usage while it was occuring. None of the applications causes it to go 100%, it just does.
