hi. i just installed h100i on i7 4770K at stock with nothing even touched.

im getting right now as i am typing with almost everything idle 38C and when i run prime95 stress test #2, i get like 80C... WTF is that???

on the internet many of the reviewers say h100i is the best water cooler so what is this???? why???

i have also upgraded to higher 16gb 1600mhz ram and here is the pic of how i have installed. i have installed very carefully. it took me more than 5 hours just to watch read and learn and then install the cooler. so dont tell me its a bad install.

pls someone with 4770k and 100i tell are these ok temps for haswell or is it just my freaking fate that i have to face troubles all the times????

(im literally disappointed of my life now)

pls help

I'm going to say this as nicely as I can... If it took 5 hours to install maybe you didn't do it correctly... Try re-seating it. Also Haswell sucks for heat output.

Also like CoolBeans said, don't use Prime95 it calls for to much voltage from Haswell and give false results.

The H100i is not the best water cooler. It's good though. You might want to reseat as others have said.

80 degrees on Prime95 isn't that bad for the cpu though if you ignore that you are using a h100i.

True but we don't know what his ambient temps are and how long he has been running that test.

room temp will be not more than 24-25C max and i am running the fans at extreme in link software

Try reseating it, and for use Prime 95 for Haswell, use Adia64

how reseat? u mean to lift up and then may be put it again? i have done that like 3 times already.  temps the same

That's what reseating is.

Make it tighter?

ok i have done the cpu hash test in aida64 and before the test i reset the temps in real temp. to see whats max temp it gets. the max core temp is 71C. is my install and/or chip ok?

If you're wondering about safety, your chip is fine. It's a bit warmer than it should be for that cooler though.

i had the same problem. reseat, take the cooler off, clean the cpu and water block, replace thermal paste, then put it back on, MAKE SURE THE BACKPLATE IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY....THE BACK SCREWS FOR THE MOBO SHOULD LINE UP WITH THE INDENTS ON THE BACKPLATE

Maybe what he said^

but what my guess is that temperature here is warmer. like very warm. my case is also old. mesh has lots of dust which i have tried to removed. the thermal paste on the cooler itself was, tbh, very thin layer. very thin. i guess i will have to remove and reinstall for the last time. i installed at the top just to get better air flow. other wise i can easily mount it at the bottom without any problem. the rad is JUST fit there. there is only like 1.5-2mm distance between rad and the ram. and the dual 4 cpu pin connector is actually pushing the rad. i forced installed it there. may be thats causing the problem.

will install it at the bottom now.

and frankly by what i have read the temps of haswell are higher than that of the ivy. and i can now believe that. its very hot. good performance but very hot. and 38-39c at idle is i guess not that high for such a hot config and hot room temp.right?

Thin thermal paste is good.

If you have bad case airflow, that might be it.

That's an okay idle temp.

Chances are he used too much paste :(.  I was hitting about 82*C @ 4.2GHz @ 1.288V on an I7-3770K on air.

At first (before I reseated) my temps were the same as you described. Then I did what I had to to my idle temps went down to about 30 to 38 celcius. The h00i will only take it so far while idle. My prime95 temps were around 65 celcius. Keep in mind this is at a 4.2ghz oc. Prime 95 is bad anyway. Always use aida 64. My fan config is stock. Pulling air from inside my case then out.

well my temps are not bad. my room temps are high. and these temps that i gave at start are with case open and at quiet mode. will be testing further to find the optimal performance. i guess its my lack of experience thats causing problems :)

anyways. lets wait and see :D

thanks

if you have CPU-Z open during your testing, note the CPU voltages. if you have

high performance power option, the CPU will idle at 1.2-1.275vCORE. if you are

balanced, the voltage should idle down to .7-.9vCORE. when voltages are 1.2v

and higher, expect higher idle temperatures (nature of Haswell). depending on

what ambient (room temperature) temp, the idle and load temperatures will be

increased as well as case air-flow and internal temperatures.

using a 240 AIO:

i found i7-4770k clocked at 39 multi and 1.025v ran 57° loaded (A=25.6°). stock

UEFI BIOS will usually run that same multi on 1.2-1.275v for a 72° loaded temp.

so in conclusion, your prolly in the park until you under-volt the CPU to lower

the temperatures. you know what 1.25vCORE temps will be like.

Well, your idle temps aren't 'bad'. You might very well have a 'hotter-chip', as none are the same.

If I were in your situation, before going into the 'nitty-gritty' UEFI voltage settings, I'd try re-installing

the cooler, do everything by the book. To be honest, Corsair's instruction manuals are clear enough.

Grab a  friend/sibling to help if you need it. Clean the block and CPU and put new thermal paste on

it, plenty of helpful guides on that on the net. Then restart and stress test again.

After that, I'd be interested in airdeano's tips above ^^ Lowering/tuning the voltage to make sure it's

all good. You're load temps are quite odd as I have an H60 SE with a 3570k @ 4.2 (admittedly, a

cooler CPU) but a 240mm AIO should perform much better @ STOCK clocks.

Give all of our tips a go and come back with results :D We're here to help!
