PC Upgrade - Advice needed

Go to solution Solved by Katsunaka,

Is it specifically for gaming and misc internet browsing?

You can probably keep the PSU and case. The rest is specific to the old cpu, aside from the outdated graphics cards.

I'd probably say

6600k

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117561&ignorebbr=1

Whatever LGA 1151 motherboard in an ATX format that has colors ,in a price your comfy with and features you like      ( Meaning, Bluetooth, Wifi, M.2 SSD capabilities, and at a minimum of 2 PCI 3 x16 slots.)

The Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero is a good one to look at and see if you like it

CPU Cooler -  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&ignorebbr=1

Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233698&ignorebbr=1

SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W02DV8166&ignorebbr=1

Those parts are 680 US and 600 EUR. In US pricing, converted to EUR. I went off Newegg pricing.

It lets you keep your current case, and PSU.

It gets you on the current CPU, decent enough amount of ram for gaming and browsing the internet, and between your 1070 and these parts, should last 5 years.

I'd also probably recommend picking up some newer fans for your case, that is if your current ones are old. Just to provide some more airflow in the case to keep things cool.

If you want to go with a Corsair type All in One cooler like an H100, you'd probably need a new case to support the radiator.

Hello! I'm planning to do an upgrade for my PC. I have zero experience in building a PC myself, but I would like to learn how to do it. I want to upgrade my PC because some parts just don't cut it anymore and I'd also like to enjoy some more pixels on the screen.

What I currently have:

Antec Nine Hundred Two

Intel i7-920 2.67GHz

MSI GTX660Ti PE OC

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R MOBO

Corsair GS800

OCZ 6GB RAM

Budget:

I have about 2000 to maximum 2250EUR I can spend on my PC. One Acer Predator XB271HU monitor is immediately going to cost me 800EUR and one MSI GTX1070 graphics card in Belgium is going to cost me roughly 500EUR. Now, this doesn't mean that every euro needs to be spent, but that I can spend that much.

Aim:

The build is meant for post 60 frames per second gaming on a 1440p. When I combine a G-SYNC monitor with a GTX1070, I think I'm pretty well covered. Games I would play would include most mainstream titles such as DOOM, Skyrim fully modded, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max, SOMA, The Witcher III, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Total War, ... Something I also plan to do is PS2 emulation of games that are murder for the CPU to run (such as Ratchet and Clank), but I think that's probably going to be a non-issue anyway.

Monitors & Peripherals:

I plan to run one Acer Predator XB271HU (2560x1440) and a BenQ FP222Wa (1680x1050). I won't have more than two monitors, but it's possible I'll retire the BenQ in the future for another 27" 1440p monitor.

All I'm asking is a solid build worthy of the budget. Something really beefy and fast. I don't need bells and whistles or fancy flickering lights on my case. Also (pretty important) please let me know if there are parts, such as the case and the PSU, that I can still keep.

Thank you in advance!

I'm a bit more informed in what I have to do now.

Thank you so much for your input!
