Gtx 1080 bottleneck?

Yes, it will in certain games but it won't be severe.

Yes, it will be a major bottleneck.

The Fanboy Edition also overheats, avoid it.

No it won't!  Passmark.com gives your CPU a score of 6617.  Compare that to the Skylate i5-6500 of the same speed and that is only 7041, which is less than 10% faster.

But I do agree with the above posters in that you should avoid the FE edition and get one of the OEM solutions for cheaper, once they are available that is.

It will. A 1080 will CERTAINLY get bottlenecked by a low end Haswell i5. That's the sad truth.

Obviously depends on the game. I doubt games like Dark Souls 3, Witcher, and Fallout will bottleneck too severely. It should be enough for 60+fps.

Actually, the i5 will bottleneck even a 980 in W3 Novigrad. Going to an i7 results in an increase of 10-20fps due to the vast amount of characters moving around and shit happening, not to mention the dense models all packed together.

Stock clocks? Yes. Thing is, put both CPUs at the same speed and they'll get the same amount of frames. Either way, the i5 4460 is still enough for 60+, especially with a 1080.

stock or OC doesn't matter. the extra threads i7s offer make a BIG difference in modern AAA games

Doesn't seem like it. Of course when they're all similarly clocked. Fallout 4 seems to be the only outlier here, and even that's 5FPS.

No, a 980 Ti. Close enough right? I doubt a 15FPS more average would cause the CPU to bottleneck it. Then again, he doesn't show the low end i5s.

Exactly - the i5 4690 is a 3.7GHz CPU
the i5 4460 is a 3.2GHz CPU - that's a good 15% difference right there. You see where I'm going? A 15% weaker CPU paired with a 20-30% more powerful GPU results in a bottleneck.

Alright alright, low end i5s will. Any K ones won't. That good?

My thoughts exactly. A 4.5GHz i5 is enough. A 3GHz one isn't. For a 1080 at least.

Upping the resolution does not take off load from the CPU. Same amount of work will be done, thing is, if a bottleneck is occurring, you get to choose between 1080p60FPS or 1440p60FPS. You get it?
