Im going through the process of finding the parts for a gaming PC at the moment and my current build (ill put it below) I really want to be a bit cheaper.

You don't need one. But they are worth it. Until you experience one it is hard to say, but one you have an SSD as your OS, you will never want a standard HDD again.

CRITICAL EDIT

Do what @herman mcpootis said. I would wait and get the new RX 480/470. That will be SO much better.

not a requirement at all if you want to save money, but it's very highly recommended if you have the extra cash to spare. also, consider waiting for the Rx 480/470 instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

The correct question should in fact be: do you have a good enough reason not to buy one? For my money, they're one of the best upgrades you can make to a PC, and can be bought for less than most other major PC components. I guess everyone has their preferences and priorities, but I can't imagine putting together a new build without one now (unless I had an incredibly mean budget to stick, and even then, I'd still probably squeeze it in).
