Mediacenter Focus

So, I a bit lost here. A friend of mine recently approached me because he wanted a new PC. I am would say that I am fairly decent at creating gaming rigs but he wants a mediacenter PC, basically a glorified blu-ray player with some power for gaming aswell. he gave me two budgets and a couple of rules: Budget1 is about 800 to 900 Euros (Yes I come from Germany)and the second Budget is at 1.5k. It doesnt need to be super silent or anything, it needs a soundcard and the rig is going to be on a shelf/closet kinda thing so i do have to work around a restricted airflow. The build for 1.5kEUR is no problem but i at a bit of a loss at the 800-900 range of things.
