I currently have G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series F4-2400C15D-16GVR DDR4 2400MHZ 16GB (2X8GB).

With 6700k and MSi Gaming M5 motherboard.

This may seems superficial but the 2 empty memory slots on the board are starting to bother me. I want to fill them up.

Of course I could just buy another of the 2x8 kit, but research came up with some weird points I am not sure of.

In a dual channel system like with 6700k, it is safe to put 4 sticks?

I read that is is too much stress for memory controller, and proceeding anyways can hurt longevity of system/damage other parts, and will also limit overclocking ram/cpu potential.

Also I read that buying two separate kits of 2x8GB ram is not advisable as compared to one kit of 4x8, as the 4x8 is tested to work perfectly together, while the 2x8 kit is not, which can result in booting problem or decreased ram speed and computer performance.

How much of this is true? Is it the optimal performance choice to stick with 2 sticks of 8, despite the eyesore that it is to me?

I can tell you that I have 2 sets of 2x4GB sticks of the same RAM (corsair vengeance) and they work fine. I've slapped many a different combination of RAM in different computers and it usually works. In my opinion I think this is one of those things that people blow out of proportion.

If you have the money you ca just get a kit of 4 sticks and avoid the worry but I think you will be fine "mixing" kits.
