I just bought a 3tb seagate hdd and it arrived yesterday. I started to do some tests on it but it keeps failing the Short DST using Seatools.

heres the Smart info

Drive seems fine otherwise, windows disk check reported no problems and i did a full format too.

i got a 1 year warranty from a different store.

How does that happen..

You buy something. Date on receipt starts 5 year warranty countdown for Seagate and whatever warranty your retailer gives you.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Hi :)

I would contact the Manufacturer's support directly and ask if it's a good idea to exchange the drive if it's failing that particular test.

The raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status don't show anything that should concern you, but manufacturers have internal values in the S.M.A.R.T. status that show additional data which may be important and if that test is getting such info it may be an indication for a defective drive.

If the drive is under warranty the easiest thing that would get this off your head would be to simply swap the drive for a replacement.
