Hi all, whenever I get a skype call sometimes it just gets rid of all my audio including the Skype call, so I can hear nothing at all, not even the skype call. This isn't a regular occurrence however, it usually only happens when I am listening to a song on iTunes and then the call interrupts it.

I am using OS X 10.8.4 and Skype 5 and I am aware of how skype adjusts other applications volumes, but I don't know how to fix this. The only way I have found so far is by doing a full reboot, not even logging off works.

Thanks

Reinstall Skype and/or set dedicated audio to the headset in the settings.

Done that, didn't fix the problem, set my DAC and Microphone as the inputs and outputs. It requires me to quit skype, unplug my sac and connect it again just to listen to my music, seems like my Skype is very broken. Can't make calls with it anymore.

Blue Snowball and Fiio E10 don't have drivers. I think its a problem with Skype itself and I can't work out what though. What I have noticed is Skype does causing distortion and clipping when listening to music and Skype calls at the same time however.

I haven't experienced the problem with Windows, mostly because I don't often use iTunes on Windows since my library is stored on my Mac drive.

I meant UPDATING the AUDIO drivers IN WINDOWS

Why would that make a difference if the problem is in Mac OS? The drivers are completely different and separate, to the point where they are on two different drives. Also the Snowball and E10 don't have any drivers, as I said before I don't use onboard audio at all, everything goes through USB.

The problem is with Skype not my audio equipment, I just need to figure out exactly what Skype is doing to my audio.
