I have an old(ish) HP computer and I was wondering which type/version/make of a 750ti would be most acceptable with a 300~watt psu.

Thank you cx

Is it one of those slim cases, or is it a regular tower?

My OCed version sips around 120 watts at max.  But as a 750ti owner currently I wouldn't recommend buying one.  950s are much better for not much more and if you really want to wait for the 1050 that could also be good as well.

RX 480 might be good once we see specs, but will be a little more expensive and depends if you "bat for" team red or green or don't care.

Edit: The most any 750ti will take is ~120 watts

Do you have the SC or the FTW edition? And I'm just trying to put a temporary graphics card into my office computer to be able to run games a lot more smoothly, so I can play now and then save up to build a PC later on.

I was running a 3GHz Quad Core (Core2 series), with 4GB DDR2, Solid State Drive and a Reference 750Ti and the measured power was right at 300W.   A Core2Duo in the same system ran around 250 Watts on load, so it just depends on what you are running and how efficient your power supply is.

This one is pretty good...Just enter all your components and it will give you an estimate of the power rating you need.  http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

None of the calculators are perfect... but they can tell you if you are within a reasonable range.

Several 750 Tis run without PCI-E power connectors. There are even half height ones that do this if you happen to have one of those slim towers. Keep in mind if your CPU is not too up to date, it will bottleneck the card quite a bit.

I used to have an HP Slimline machine with an Athlon in it, and I decided to put a 750 Ti in it, bottlenecked like a mofo, barely got better FPS than when I had put a GT 610 in there.

I have an ASUS card.  Doesn't have any other branding other than "OC Edition."

I use the EVGA gtx 750 ti SC edition and it runs fine in my Lenovo pc, get one without the pcie connector and you should be fine. I can play Overwatch at max settings at 1080p with 60fps average. I can also run the Witcher 3 at medium/ high settings and achieve 40/50 fps at 1080p. (this is all with an i5 4460 processor).
