How to trace files ?

I have a server with shared folders and also have much clients that connect to that server on of my clients dropped a infected file on that shared folder i don't know from witch client came that so is any software that trace files ?

If you check the properties on the file, it should tell you the date created/modified, and under another tab it should tell you the owner, which should be the original domain and user that placed it there, depending on how your shares are setup.
