Home server recomendations

I'm currently ripping and compressing my few dozen blu rays to make an in home streaming server with plex and am rapidly running out of space. I was looking for recommendations on drives and options for storage (backup and redundancy) looking at using just the space in my current PC, about 3 3.5 drive bays and 3 2.5 drive bays, to provide me with the space i need for now but also large enough for about 5-6 movie purchases a year for the next few years at least. I'm not very versed in RAID configurations or anything like that and this is my first attempt at making a "home server" so any help would be very appreciated.
