Hello, first of all sorry if this is in the wrong area or not appropriate, but I have been scouring the Internet for solutions and I have yet to find one that works. Recently my Dad's computer decided to die during normal operation and gave a BSOD error which said bad_system_config_info. When rebooting the system would attempt to repair it automatically but no avail, it would loop round and the error would keep displaying. Then the repair program would load up but then everything would stop responding (mouse, keyboard etc.) an the system would freeze. I can't access the advanced options to boot into safe mode with command prompt either. So following the internet's advice, I created both a bootable USB for Windows 10 and a disk, I wasn't able to boot to the Windows 10 desktop on either of them however I can manage to open the Command Prompt off my USB. After this I tried the limited scans that I know (sfc/scannow , chkdsk/r (or /f)) and found various 'solutions' that told me to do things such as scan the BCD or repair it etc. I tried all of these but half the scans would not work for some reason and the rest didn't change anything. I also tried to follow a guide to check the boot registry and to edit it to default; however command prompt isn't recognising or cannot find System32 (I'm 99% sure that the pathway is correct). So ... is there anything I can do to fix this without losing the data that is on the hard drive? Sorry if I have missed out something obvious, I'm not very good at this :/

Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas, or even better, solutions. :D
