Should i go with i5-4690K or E3 1231-V3?

Currently will be Paired with a EVGA GTX950 2GB FTW.

If you can, the 1231 (look for a 1230 as well) would be a better choice. The 4690k isn't very smart, considering your mobo.

For gaming? You're better off with an i5-6500, H81, and a better GPU than the GTX 950. If you must stick with haswell, just get an i5-4590. The Xeon would be great if you did more than just gaming though.

Look at his sig.

Actually looking at your mobo, go with a non-K CPU. The 1231 is fine.

Yeah a friend of might have a MSI Z87 G41PC Mate but no CPU, his willing to swap each others MoBo.

Then discover if his Bios is updated or not. Because if it isn't, don't even bother, it won't support either CPU.

But if it actually is, I guess I'd get the 4690k.

Basically the  MSI Z87 G41PC Mate was produce solely for Haswell Refresh CPU so it will be supported but what i can understand now the 4690K is Equally Price of the E3 1231-V3.

Comes down to two questions, do you want hyperthreading or not and if you want to overclock or not; if yes to both, which of the two is more important for your use case. If you are only going to be gaming, then going with the 4690K and OCing will offer better performance.
