as I mentioned in my "hi" comment in the off topic section I posted my laptop spec, which is this : http://valid.x86.fr/d521cj

I noticed my 980m has 8gb of vram.

Having watched linus's videos on vram I have to ask why does the 980m have 8gb of vram. It just doesn't seem to make sense to me. My desktop 980 only has 4gb and that is more powerful and is driving 4K games so what could possibly be a logical explanation for this?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining my laptop has 8gb of vram instead of 4. It just got me thinking.

Well desktop components are usually better because they are bigger and you can fit more shizzle in there to make it run faster etc and vram doesn't really affect performance other than making it easier to render textures and skins at higher quality. Also a laptop 980m is basically a desktop 770
