well everyone has to have a first post so I guess this'll be mine xD I'm a gaming enthusiast with a nice little (well not really, blame corsairs 900d for that) rig but its not my question today.

my question today is this, is there a way to force windows to boot to and from a usb, like install a copy of windows to a usb pen drive, and then boot from it?

I have been beating my head off a wall for a couple of weeks now with this, I have been watching LTT videos for at least the last 2 years and I feel quite enlightened by them, keep up the good work linus xD

And I have spent 3 hours now searching this forum for anything on this matter prior to posting and cant find anything really even close to this.

I am attempting to boot from http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA92G4615270&cm_re=cf_reader-_-20-805-005-_-Product

with http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA9UP3HC1255&cm_re=tf_to_cf-_-9SIA9UP3HC1255-_-Product with 2 team 128GB micro sd cards in it

my rig formats it well, shows up as 240GB card but when i try to install xp to it I get past the bios startup screen then promptly get a "disk read error, press ctrl+alt+del to restart system"

any help mates? its just a project computer and I know an ssd runs faster but I just wanna see if its actually possible to run windows from a usb disk.

My guess is that the bios does not recognize it as a boot-able USB drive. Seeing as it is strictly an SD card slot and I have read somewhere that there is a problem with either windows or bios' not treating it as a boot-able drive.

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

Did you setup the drive  using the bootable media tool from Windows ? I installed Windows 10 from a flash drive, and it was easy. Also Mae sure in bios that you have he correct partook of the flash drive selected.
