Quick question regarding pump RPM

Hey guys just a quick question,

 

What's the idea pump RPM speed I should run my D5 at? I've temp tested at different speeds between 2300RPM which I currently have it and and 3300RPM and only see  up to a maximum of 3c difference before taking margin for error into account, so what do you guys run your D5 at?

If I'm not mistaken, it's all trial and error when dealing with pump speeds on custom loops.

There can't be a universal answer since custom loops are, well, custom. Different bends, different lengths, different coolants, water blocks, reservoirs, etc.

 

The way I used to look for the sweet spot is by going in acceptable increments from the lowest speed up to the highest, plot a chart of temps (ambiental and per cooled component) while running the same benchmark(s), eventually getting my desired coolant flow

That makes a lot of sense thanks! that's probably why I haven't been able to find any sort of consistent answer

You're welcome.

Just get a spreadsheet going with pump speed, fan speed(s) on radiators, ambiental temperature and component temperature (GPU/CPU/both/whatever else).

Once you're done running the tests I find it's easiest to see what's going on by getting a graph from the collected data, which should be fairly easy to figure out.

Should've probably mentioned that this will take up a HUGE chunk of time.

Make a weekend project out of it if you can, giving enough time for the benchmarks to heat up your components and enough time for them to cool down to ambiental temps. Or at least that's what I do

Definitely, also letting the water temp equalize  and such so the readings will be showing the absolute max temp my components are pumping out

I run my pump pretty slow, because I want it to spend more time in my rear radiator before running to the front. 

 

Not sure if there's any science to that, but hey, it makes sense to me. haha
